Medicine course 2024

I am new to this forum.

My GCSE English score is below 6. I am currently studying Chemistry, Biology and Maths, year 12. I am expecting AAA.

Could I request suggestions on the Universities I can apply to for undergraduate Medicine, please?

Resit your English GCSE

Hi.

I suspect its the last thing you want to hear, but resitting your English GCSE would probably be time well spent.

Have a read through the application policies for a few of the medical schools and you will see that the vast majority want at least a 6.

I believe that Bristol wanted a 4 minimum last year, but also wanted some of the highest UCAT scores in the country. So really really limiting.

Applying for med you have to be really really strategic. Its a combination of many different factors. English grade is a key one unf.

When you do get to the applying stage, (and you have your UCAT score) then post your details in the which medical school megathread sticky and an expert will be along to help at that point.

Hint. As you are new to the forum you may not be aware, but GANFYD is one of those experts and is generally very experienced in admissions. So take their advice to resit it as the gold plated advice it is.

Good luck.

Hi, I just feel very lost and would appreciate any advice. 🙂
I'm a y13 student wishing to apply to medicine and I just need some suggestions for where to apply giving my UCAT score.
My stats:
9999998876 (7 in art and 6 in geography)
*got 5 at English Language first time as the exam was 2 days after the loss of my grandpa, with a resit I managed to bring it up to an 8*
A*AA predicted, will try to bring the A in chemistry to an A*
UCAT 2500 B1 ☹️, tbh I feel destroyed, never ever got that score in my practice and I was averaging 2900
WP/contextual

I was thinking about Keele, Sunderland, Cardiff, Leicester, Aston.
Thx for the help
