Application fee

I have completed an application to the University of Lancaster but I’ve been asked to pay an application fee, why is that?

Probably because it’s not free to process an application, they have to pay people for their time and skills to go through applications. It’s essentially an admin fee. If you go through ucas you pay the fee to ucas but if you go direct then they can ask a fee themselves
