A-levels and University

I am 17 and in my second year of college and am currently studying a BTEC extended diploma in applied science.
At this point in time I want to direct my studies to one day become a Forensic Pathologist. Recently i have learnt that i need to go to medical school to go into this profession. My secondary school did not help me or explain anything really to me about further education or future careers so i was unaware that choosing my current course will not help me reach this career.
When I finish this course I will be 18 and am unsure whether or not it is a good idea to go back to college in order to study A-levels as that is what is required for medical schools. I am also unsure on how much this would cost and what subjects specifically would help me or if I can even do this.
Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on this who may be able to help me and offer some advice.
