Should I continue further maths?

I started doing further maths in year 11 because I came to the school late. So I have to do lots of catching up. I only got around 22-24 marks(I forgot) out of 80 in my first mock. But I got a grade 8 in higher maths. I want to choose A level maths so I think doing further maths can help me adapt it faster. But looking at my results- I don't know if I should continue or not. I am afraid that I won't be able to handle it well.

Drop further maths and focus on getting a 9 in maths GCSE which is what really matters. You don't need level 2 further maths to do A Level maths (or anything else) and most A Level students get by fine without it.

Further maths should only be for students who are guaranteed a grade 9. Too many schools nowadays are teaching further maths to students who are not yet confident with maths GCSE which is very frustrating.
