Hopefully that link can answer some of your questions.

From what I've heard, parking spaces are extremely limited in Edinburgh, so I would recommend not bringing your car unless it's an absolute necessity.

Try looking down the forum before you post, eh? A handy thread from a fortnight ago on this issue is to be found here.

I am looking to take my car too, will only use it to go out of town and I can't leave it at home. I have applied to accommodation that has parking so I hope I don't get put somewhere without a car park. I emailed the accommodation office and they said details will be going up on the website soon with pricing etc.
Does anyone know whether pollock halls would be defined as a central or peripheral car park ??

If you mean to look for permit info, you need to get it through Accommodation services, there is some info here but it's for this year but it should be the same for next year http://www.ed.ac.uk/schools-departments/accommodation-services/current-students/facilities/parking

According to this no parking spaces were available to anyone unless registered as disabled, due to the construction work (I assume the new John Burnett Halls). Therefore would it be correct to assume that from 2009-10 there will be more spaces available at Pollock?
