Should there be more done to promote online safety?
Hey all, it's Safer Internet Day today. It's an event that happens every year to raise awareness about online safety.
It got me thinking... did you ever have online safety assemblies in secondary school? They were usually given by your school police officer or someone from Think U Know (CEOP's online site promoting Internet safety), where they'd talk about various issues you can come across online and how you can protect yourself.
I always found the advice they gave a little bit outdated or vague...
Did anyone else ever find this? If so, what advice would you give to younger children today based on what you know? How could CEOP and other organisations improve the information available for children on how to keep safe? Especially considering it's becoming more and more normal for children as young as 10 to have social media accounts!
What about those that are older? Young people, for example... what should we know that you simply don't get told in these assemblies? Do you think enough is done to raise awareness? I'm really interested in your thoughts on this!

I think being desensitised because of graphic content is an issue. For example porn can make men expect sex to be violent and gore on the internet can destroy your emotions. The only advice I'd give is to avoid porn and violent media at all costs.

I saw a video of a guybeing sucked into those rollers they use in the printing press. Scarred for life. Dagestan massacre. Cartel footage. It became an addiction. Now I don't think I'd react properly in an emergency because of it.
