Negative effects of PORN on our society

Poll

Do you think porn is harmful to the society?

Hey all,

I've been looking into this topic for a while now and I cannot argue against the scientific evidence how harmful pornography is. I believe it affects people in different ways, some more, some less, but I am convinced, it has more negative effect. People have many opinions, but they often fail to check the facts.

Bottom line is, that porn rewires the brain the way drugs like cocaine do.
It fuels modern day slavery and sex trafficking.
By every view one is contributing to the demand, whether one pays for it or not.

I am starting this discussion in order to find people who are AGAINST pornography and would like to raise awareness. This is a shout-out for all those affected or those who want to know more about this new drug.

Lmao, whoever pays for porn has been duped, considering the almost infinite number of free porn sites out there
I think it is damaging, yes.

Obviously if there was no money involved, it wouldn't be commercially produced. Many people by time, as their addiction progresses look for more deviated, more bizarre, violent stuff and they are willing to pay for it.

A lot of porn out there doesn't even involve living human beings. What's the problem with that?

How does it rewrite the brain? Why is this a bad thing?

How does it fuel modern day slavery/sex trafficking?
I see the harm porn does on a daily basis. Young men with glazed over eyes and repetitive strain injuries in both wrists. It's tragic.

I would have said pretty much anything in excess harms society. If it bothers you there are porn sites out there that are more "responsible" than others.
The "porn does the same things coke does to your brain" argument is just so ridiculous.

Food does the same things coke does to your brain.

Listening to a song you like does the same things coke does to your brain.

Porn does the same things because you enjoy porn. Not because it somehow contains the same elements coke does.
Aberystwyth... I love it

Yeah I’m against it for several reasons, first of all some of the stuff you come across is just disgusting and wrong. Secondly, I struggle to believe that the women in most videos are genuinely happy, in fact I’m sure they all have some sort of back story, either way it’s no secret they take drugs to get through filming and cope afterwards. Thirdly, most people go on to expect sexual experiences to be like a porn movie and end up unsatifised because they expected too much.

There’s other things but I think those are the main points, I guess it’s alright to watch but access shouldn’t be as easy as it is

yeah but porn produces way higher amounts of dopamine more than cocaine but unlike cocaine one can keep the high going for hours on end - edging, infinite material, variety etc

been on nofap for 2.5 years. its been extremely hard at times and i have slipped up many times. but i can confirm that jerking off 3x a day to increasingly concerning content adds no value to my life
Why have you capitalised porn? Was I going to somehow not know what it was if it were wrote normally? confused.... Irregardless, I don't think it's bad for the individual if you have a hold on it. You won't die if you get drunk once, and similarly you won't die if you watch Mia Khalifa get boned once. Things get problematic when dependencies start.

It is literally all on free sites. From fully clothed to actual midgets. Anybody paying is actually stupid.

1) Majority of it does, hentai's a bit of a niche market m8. Drawn stuff in itself doesn't have any trouble for the people involved in making it though, sure.

2) Dopamine, innit. Similar to anything you can get addicted to, you use it and then you're brain's like "yas". Food does the same, so do hard drugs. You can start getting trouble if you're using porn very regularly and overdoing it. I'll just lob a link that explains it somewhat better than I can:

https://www.nofap.com/porn-addiction/

3) The professional end with the "big names" largely won't, but the amateur scenes with people just starting out is a bit rough. Dunno if it's necessarily as extreme as sex trafficking/slavery in the majority of cases, but drugs and coercion abound bois.

You're really gonna have to elaborate there, 90% of the stuff would be legal for you to do with other consenting people...

People porn watchers, ie most internet users, don't masturbate 3 times a day, so you are essentially comparing someone who has McDonald's once a week, and someone who drinks 2 litres of water every hour (that person would die), and then say:

Oh WATER is so bad for us! We DIE because we drink WATER!

It's the same point when you said "hours on end". Most people don't have the time to watch porn "hours on end" every day.

If you're addicted to anything, anything is bad for you. It's ridiculous to compare figures from an addict of porn to someone who's not addicted to something else.
Frequent ejaculation prevents erectile dysfunction, does not lead to it.

Unless you're talking about someone who masturbates/has sex excessively, then everything is bad for you.

Drinking too much water and you will die.

Running too much and you will die.

Studying or working too hard and you can die.

Your questionable morals...

It's one thing to say it's not necessary to pay for you, but another thing to not only be proud of piracy, but shaming people who do the right thing.

With the internet, most things are free nowadays. So why go to the cinema? Are those people study? Why go to a concert? Why buy a book?

gotta get those 1080p full length movies though... That stuff is hard to find for free.

Amature is where it's at though.

If it's amature, it will be free.

All "amature" videos from commericial porn studios are fake, just like all "reality TV" shows are.
No wonder murder statistics are on the increase, we're bringing up a generation of teenagers that are experts in cleaning up evidence.
