What rights do you think men should have but women not have?

She did not say that, she said 'same legal rights' try to keep up instead of being so confrontational!

I agree with the OP, men and women should not have the same legal rights! Why do you think they should have. Let's look at the right to abortion for a start, the woman's right has too trump the mans right because of obvious biological reasons!

OP

I agree with you, I consider myself to be a feminist but I would not call myself a feminist directly due to the modern association of the word due to people who wish too politicise feminism, I don't think every woman should be forced to belive in a uber neoliberal ideal just because they were born without a penis!

It's very hard to call one's self a feminist nowadays, with links to the crazy avoiding sending women to prison or the emergency female cabinet to avoid a no deal brexit! Every female in the country needs to be a remainer now as well then I guess.

Equality of choice is a good thing equality of outcome is a bad thing, what's so difficult to understand about that I'll never know

I am 17 . I am not a feminist . I don’t need feminism . Men and woman are not equal. I accept these differences. Why is that people cannot respect my belief. Not supporting something doesn’t automatically make me hate those who do. I know so many girls who don’t support this at college and end up being quite afraid of all the fiery , wild feminist. Why can we not just stop hating and judging people who don’t really want to agree with the majority ?
Majority never holds the authority. What is right . Has it. Speak up!

Men and women are equal just with different roles to play in society

Interesting. So as a 17 year-old non-feminist you'll be looking to get married in the next year or so and being kept by your husband, looking after the home, cooking and cleaning and if course, looking after the needs of your husband? Then you will be looking forward to 20 years or so of childcare?

I mean - that is the role of women right? You don't want to bother your pretty little brain with the complexity of work or self fullfilment? Anyway, we all know that the womb rises to strangle the brain.

</humour>

so baffling for me , the judgment I received for just not agreeing with others, supposedly tells alot about you.

Equalities are inportant not should be politicised and judged in outcome statistics

But it is all politicised whether you like it or not. If a group of people want an outcome (equality) the only way to achieve that in a democracy is to politicise your cause. How else can you achieve your aim?

Presumibly you are against workers rights, anti-racism and gay rights movements too because they have become politicised in a culture that trys to turn a blind eye.

That's not what she's saying and a typical reply from an pseudo liberal who cannot accept difference of opinion.

So you don't feel debate is a good thing then? BTW, what is a pseudo liberal? It sounds like an insult except I haven't a clue what it is.

You're lucky if you've never encountered gender discrimination. I deal with it from another student on my degree course to the extent he has physically prevented me from carrying out practical work in the laboratory on several occasions. There's no need for such backwards mentality.

I am so sorry what what you had been through.

But Mam, what’s really funny is that most feminists say they were oppressed by men, when it’s just a small minority .

AND THEN OPPRESS OTHER LADIES BY TELLING THEM WHAT TO DO AND WHAT NOT TO DO. AND WHEN THE
“ANTI-FEMINISTS” DISAGREE. THEY GO MAD. Psycho.

Feminism has always demonised men (boys)
backward mentality is what you call it. . I’ll take that. This “backward mentality” is what I believe in and all my friends and supporters do. and always will. And all the Ladies who support me . who need respect and prefer compassion over worldly leadership , always will.

It's isn't an insult pesudo means non genuine and Liberal means tolerant of others veiws, I'm only speaking English.

You're not debating though that's the point. What you are doing is forcing you're veiws on others by trying to push the conversation to extremities by being a conversational bully. You are trying to trap people into saying things that they have not said in order to get the upper hand in the debate, Example below

In the above paragraph you try to smash me with various accusations, in the hope I lose my cool because you know at least one of those touches a nerve too me personally. You know this because you are aware I'm a traditional socialist. Now if I lose my cool or do not address the issue, I've somehow indirectly admitted I'm against workers rights, anti-racism and gay rights movements. Its such a horrible debating style which is becoming too common nowadays.

Trying to bully the OP into you're political line of thought is one thing what is turning women away from the current feminist movement. By being born a woman doesn't mean they have to conform to neoliberal beliefs and vote for the Liberal Democrats or the Green Party for example. Like wise if somehow if they hold more traditional right wing beliefs or genuinely believe in equality of choice rather than equality of outcome, and are disgusted by crazy people like Caroline Lucas who seems to want female superiority over equality, they should not be subjected to bullying and being told there an enemy to their own gender!

Are we in favour of women choosing what she wants to be or are we only in favour of that if it's suits your gender equality statistics. Any woman speaking out against 'the cause' must be ridiculed?

I agree with the OP, men and women should not have the same legal rights! Why do you think they should have. Let's look at the right to abortion for a start, the woman's right has too trump the mans right because of obvious biological reasons!

My question to them: "Do you think that women should have the same legal rights as men?"
Their answer: "Same legal rights. No".
My following question: "What rights do you think men should have but women not have?"
Your response: sHe DID nOT SaY THat, tRY TO KEEP up!!

They had not given any examples so to further the conversation I asked for clarification. How is that not related to what they had told me? If they responded by saying that men shouldn't have any rights that women don't have then I would have moved on to ask what rights women should have that men don't have. They had given very little information as to exactly what they believe in their OP so I've taken this thread by asking one question at a time. This really shouldn't be that hard to follow.

Every single one of my female friends has either been catcalled or assaulted or worse. So no, it’s isnt a minority. I don’t get how u can think feminism “has always” demonised men. How is women asking for the vote or protection from discrimination demonising men? I don’t think ur backwards for wanting to be a housewife. It’s ur life, it’s ur choice. But don’t pretend ur being discriminated against or looked down on by feminists. We’ve fought more than 100 years for u to have that choice.

We don’t care that she doesn’t want to call herself a feminist. We are upset because she called feminists psychos and claimed they hated men and wanted to limit women’s choices. Which isn’t true.

and we can't debate the opinion?.. what's the point of creating the thread then
Agreeing that men and women are different is not the same as suggesting that men and women are not equal. Yes, sure, feminism goes too far sometimes, but name a single social or political movement that hasn’t done this at one point or another. To respond to your main point, I’m sorry that you feel as if other people don’t respect your belief, but I wonder if you are trying to collate people critiquing your ideas with disrespect. Every belief should be questioned, because if not it will end up becoming a dogma. Maybe people are just questioning what you believe in the same way that you question feminism. Given that most of history is dominated by male figures disrespecting women, perpetuating violence and inequality, you have to accept that some people may be just a little frustrated with what you’re saying.
If you’re not a feminist cool but not all feminists believe that women are better than men. Everyone forgets women exist outside of the west and some women in other countries are literally just baby popping machines by force. Also the fact that men in other countries don’t get custody for their children purely because they’re male. It’s awful. The word Feminism has been tainted but please don’t get it confused.

Oh so that was considered as rambling. That’s ok. I am sorry I wasn’t able to convey my message.
1: Same legal rights . No
2: yes.
Men too get disrespected . Bruhh.

To what legal rights do you think women should not be entitled?
No one is a feminist.
How can anyone be something when there is no consensus on what the word means.

My personal view on what the word feminist means is that you believe women should have equal rights and opportunities to men. Equal not more.
I believe this.

That being said I think people put to much emphasis on single words and silly soundbites.
