Dance GCSE

So i take art and dance GCSE as my specialist subjects at school. I'm in year 10 and I'm going back to school soon. I've been thinking about careers in dance and maybe art. Does anyone know a way to easily find a career in dance?
Hi,
I am also taking GCSE dance, there are so many different jobs in the industry. I mean yes there is just a dancer. But you could be an Arts administrator, Choreographer, Community arts worker, Dance movement psychotherapist, Personal trainer, Theatre director etc...
I would recommend just researching different companies If I were you. As you probably know there are lots of different companies for the dances we study. Eg, Stopgap dance co, James Cousins dance company, the royal ballet, Rambert.....
Researching different companies can help because if you find one you really like you might get your mind set on it and may join it when your older.

Are looking for a career as a dancer or in the dance or doing something different within the dance industry?
Do you do any other forms of dance other than GCSE ?

I do ballet as well as dance GCSE. I don't want a full-time Dance career when I'm older, I actually want to work in Medicine. But Dance is one of my biggest passions, so I might do part-time teaching or something

That was meant to be other Genres!
Also, do you have any opportunity to assist in class with younger students?
Since when was GCSE Dance a thing? Lol, never heard of that one before.

It’s been around a while, but not all schools offer it.

I dance to with the board BTDA ballet - and I am an advanced 2 (highest level before a teachers degree) yes I do teach younger classes - I teach the Grade 2 class and the Grade 5 and 6 classes.
I have had the opportunity to dance other genres - but haven’t because I don’t have the time during the week to do other classes and also Ballet is my favourite to dance. But I do dance other genres because of GCSE dance and past dance experiences (I don’t dance them the best though 😅)

I have also had the experience of workshops with dances from James Cousins dance co. (From the dance Within her Eyes)

That’s a brilliant achievement, well done. As you’ve already achieved beyond intermediate you have the prerequisite for the teaching course if you want to go down that route. I don’t know the BTDA teaching course, as they all vary, but it might be worth investigating the possibility of doing your teaching certificate/diploma part time in the future - which you could also do with any exam board such as ISTD, RAD, IDTA etc as you have your intermediate. Then you’d be qualified to teach & enter students for exams.

The only reason I was asking about other genres as it gives more flexibility when looking for teaching work, but if you’re that standard, you’d be able to pick up other genres easily enough to add them on at a later date if you wanted.

Thank you so much !!!
about the different boards - yes BDTA isn't as well know as ISTD or RAD, and I'd love to get some more knowledge od the differences between different Ballet Boards and how their syllabuses vary.

RAD has updated the whole syllabus (except grade 6, 7 & 8) over the last few years & is very nice. The RAD syllabus is set all through the grades except vocationals which also include unset enchainments.
As far as teaching courses, the rad CBTS course is a distance learning course which includes practical intensive weeks which are assessed with an exam at the end.

ISTD has more unset work within the syllabus. The teaching diplomas have recently changed, but I think now combines what was two levels into one -DDE qualification. This include a number of written/observation/planning modules plus a practical exam on the entire syllabus with progressions through the grades, teaching methods, choreography etc.

I’m not too familiar with the details of BBO, IDTA etc
