Help with a circuits question

I need to find the currents of 2 circuits, the components are identical but in one circuit the cells are in paralell and in one theyre in series.

In the first series circuit there's 2 identical cells of emf 8V and internal resistance 3 ohms connected to an external resistor of 4 ohms
The second circuit is the same but the cells are in parallel

I got 1.6A for the first circuit and 1.5A for the paralell one, but im confused as it though that current increased when cells were placed in parallel, am i correct?

I think my current for the series cell is correct but im unsure of the paralell one, i know the combined emf is 8V and i used the parallel resistor equation and got 1.5 ohms as the internal resistance, i then used emf=i(R+r) to solve for current
