Passing English to get into college

I have a question. when I go to college and they say I must have a C or above in English, i get a separate GCSE for lit and lang. Do I have to achieve a C or above in only lit or only lang or both?

Only language.

You only need Language.
I'm failing Literature today, haven't even revise.. I don't need Literature but it helps to get one GCSE if you pass it.
If you're confidently you will get the other 4 GCSEs subjects C or above then you can just purposely fail Literature. You need 5 GCSEs to get in college right?
