Another one crying over something pointless. Grade boundaries are decided by the general performance of everyone across the country who sat the two papers. You cannot argue or cry about the grade boundaries being too high. So what if you don't get the A*? It's not the end of the world. You can continue to live just fine with an A.

I'm a human being who has personal goals. What you might be content with someone else might be not. So don't go around clicking on threads that you will won't clearly enjoy. Shows how interesting your life is. I would be content with an A in any other subject, just not maths because of my OWN personal journey. Anyways scurry along with your pathetic trolling life style.

I'm not saying they should, I'm saying the boundaries should match the difficulty of the paper not about the amount of people that complain about a 3 mark question about sweets like they did last year.

The boundaries tend to be set such that the variation in grades between two years is not all that high. Once the overall stats come out, if the total proportion of a*s is down by a significant amount, you might have reason to think Edexcel's conduct was harsh or unfair. Otherwise, you have to accept that enough people scored sufficiently highly to warrant such a boundary, and that's that.

Others have already explained why the grade boundaries are the way they are, so I won't bother.

I understand you're nervous about results day, so good luck with it. But getting an A is still really good and you should still be proud if you get that.

Thanks, it's just that the boundaries were a real slap in the face because it wasn't what i was expecting. I'll still probably be happy with an A.

Why would I feel better about myself? I'm simply trying to say that an A* is not much different from an A as far as A-Level entry requirements are concerned for any subject (Maths and FM), and most universities do not care about your GCSE's because you'd have A-Levels in place of them. Missing out on an A* doesn't mean you're bad at the subject so I don't understand what the big deal is. I'd understand your concern if this was an A-level as that can dictate your university place but if that's how you want to play it out with a GCSE then go ahead with your own journey.

By the way you say you got 168 from unofficial mark-schemes being harsh on yourself. You may well therefore be underestimating the number of method marks you will attain. Just 2 more raw marks beyond a supposedly harsh judgement, not hard to imagine. Is there a practical reason you need an a*, or is it a matter of personal satisfaction? Not that I do not sympathise with the latter.

I started september with a c in maths. I told myself I was not going to get a c or even a b in maths because I felt like I could do better. So September through December I worked my butt off and ended up with an A. An A was all i was aiming nothing more, nothing less.At this point my teacher was hella proud of me and told me to push for an a* as I had a few months left.So I did.A week before the exam I was averaging high 80's and low 90's. I was content. Then I done the june 2015 paper and managed to get a 95. The paper was so controversial.Yet so very easy. I looked at the grade boundaries and laughed 155? seriously. A week goes by, I sit my edexcel gcse maths paper, i started to panic at the beginning because my mind couldn't believe I was sitting my actual maths gcse.Anyways this panic led me to make dumb mistakes e.g. forgeting to write units, key on stem and leaf, converting units, dividing properly ( i wrote 6/3=3 in an algebra question and many more) therefore i lost marks, alot of them. I ended up with 168 in total after numerous unofficial mark schemes and being harsh with myself.the 2016 gcse maths paper was definitely harder than 2015. So i thought the grade boundaries would stay the same if not lower. LITTLE DID I KNOW EDEXCEL LOOKED AT MY MARKS AND SAID NOPE LETS MAKE THE BOUNDARY 2 MARKS HIGHER SHE DOESN'T DESERVE IT. IF THOSE GRADE BOUNDARIES ARE TRUE I WILL NEVER EVER SIT AN EDEXCEL PAPER AGAIN IN MY LIFE, ( I WILL GO TO A COLLEGE THAT IS NOT AFFLIATED WITH EDEXCELS ********)

They didn't personally abuse you and victimise you, they raised the grade boundaries. Get some sense of perspective here and wait until Thursday to see what your mark is before you start whinging.
