Varies from course to course. For something like EEE and Civ Eng, it counts (but not as much as the 3rd and 4th years.) Us BME-ers are lucky: we have pass/fail for the first year only.

Just got an acknowledgement from Imperial. I have applied for G600 Computing, GG41 JMC and GH56 Info Sys Eng.

It says that I won't receive a reply from them until after Jan 15, 2012 so that each applicant receives equal consideration.

Doubt it. People have already got interviews...that's not equal consideration :P

How so? When they interview you won't have any effect on whether you get a place or not, as far as I'm aware..
