haven't heard of it happening anywhere other than nottingham but i could be wrong.. if you can't make it there in winter they run a similar course called medsim in the summer.. if i'm honest though i think the whole thing is a massive scam and waste of money.. i went to medsim and only wrote 1 sentence about it in my PS and wasn't asked on it once at interview.. if i was you i'd spend the time doing some good work experience instead.. a lot of my friends at med school agree with this as well.. we all think it's a rip off.

agreed, its a waste of money - imagine the amount they must make... 250 from each of 3000+ people? just do your homework before hand, find out about different pathways into and in medicine.

It's a good chance to meet people with similar aspirations though.

Medlink, as far as I'm aware, doesn't run anywhere except Nottingham. I believe there are usually a number of taster courses for Medicine throughout the year in various places in London (most likely not to be a long residential course though) and if you're interested in Ox then there's the Sutton Trust Summer school ( http://www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/undergraduate_courses/working_with_schools_and_colleges/sutton_trust_summer.html ). Medlink/Medsim etc may be the most popular medicine taster courses, but they are no means the only ones, the best or the cheapest. They don't tell you anything you can't get from a uni open day, a book or the internet. Do not worry if you don't go to any - work experience is 10 times more useful for getting a "taster" of medicine, and it's fairly likely if you're in a big hospital you are bound to bump into at least 1 medical student to chat to about applying anyway.

I suppose a one-day equivalent of Medlink in London would be PreMed. http://www.premed.org.uk/Pages/Course_Facts.htm

Hope that helps.
