I've put conditional firm for children's nursing at dmu and am hoping to get waterway gardens for housing am I supposed to have anything for the crb check through yet?

Hey, I'm hoping to live there too - I emailed them right after my offer, as I was paranoid of missing a deadline and in turn my offer, and they said spring or it would be out of date by the time we start the course so it's probably going to be at the same time as the bursary.

Hii J.Nurses! I'm starting DMU in september 2012 to study Adult Nursing. We apply for accomidation on the 15th May, make sure you don't forget! However who's applying for the strictly nursing accomidation or the general accomidation (nearest to the health site is Newalk street, which also looks lovely, it's just across the road and nearer than waterway!) But I don't know what is more appealing or what others are doing?! What are others doing?

Hey, i plan on applying for waterways as its nice and cheap, and living with other nursing students may make things eaiser, plus everything is relatively close by .... oh and just to let you know last i saw they've changed there date to the 14th may for booking - unless ofcourse they've changed it back again - dont want you to miss out! The only things that concirm me about waterway gardens is a, i'd love an ensuit, and b, what if you fall out with one of the girls and not only do you have to live with them, you have to see them everyday at uni, they're only little concerns though.
I'm doing adult nursing in sept. I was wondering, is there anyone who was considering NOT going into waterway gardens? Its just i really want an ensuite and would like to meet people on other courses too. I've heard about the shifts and stuff and the problem with parties, but i'm considering just getting earplugs tbh.

Anyone thinking the same or is it just me? :-)

Hi ive applied for child nursing and have been thinking the same as you. I really wanted an ensuite and loved Newarke Point when i when to look round but then alot of people have said about shifts etc but now i dont know which to apply for because i would love to integrate into the uni more with other people on different courses but having the security of being with people in the same situation as me would be great too :/

I know that's exactly the same dilemna as me, except I really liked Victoria Halls. There are people staying at home who won't get the security of being in the same situation, but I suppose that they won't have to cope with student parties until the early hours!! I really don't know what to do!! What do you think you will do?

Hi
I really liked the look of Newarke Point but i emailed DMU today about it all and they said its often difficult to extend contract lengths so i dont know what would happen if we were in different accomodationa nd our course didnt finish for another few weeks :/
Accomodation for me is a massive thing because i want to know i have somewhere really nice to go back to after a long shift or even just at the start of the year when its all new and weird.
I would go for Waterway gardens if it had ensuite but they seem pretty simple rooms and i wanted an ensuite but tbh i think its probably what i will end up deciding when i have to choose because i dont know how to get around the contract lengths :/

Well when I went to look round the halls, I went to Victoria Halls, they said it would be no problem extending contracts, they would just charge you a couple of extra weeks. It can't be that difficult can it? And I think that by the time everyone else goes home for the summer (and we have a couple of extra weeks) we'll be doing our exams i pressume so we wouldnt have been doing much socialising anyway! I'm the same, I'd really like an ensuite...

Have you checked what length contracts are available for Liberty Park? The majority of student accommodation only have contracts for 42 weeks, which is too short for nursing and midwifery students.

Yeahh, before the accommodation services would let me change it I had to directly contact Liberty Park and they said it was fine and they do contract lengths as long as 52 weeks
