The roads can get busy in rush hour times, but the cycling paths are appear very good (I haven't actually cycled them, but they look wide enough and cars don't tend to park on them:smile:)

Awesome  I really liked the uni, definitely gonna apply and the course looks great, so if I get an offer, who knows? =)

I shall do that, thanks  Sorry I kinda went off the topic of the thread lol.
When cycling, do you find the road is very busy?

Lol tis ok! I do it all the time
And ermm it depends on the time of day... at like 8:45 so for a 9am lecture it is quite busy yes, but its mainly a queue of cars not moving! Most times of the day its fine. The cycle path runs the entire way from halls to uni with special traffic lights for bikes. Its really good and lots of people use it! Ive never not felt safe on it  So no i guess its not that busy and even if it is its perfectly fine to cycle on purely because of the cycle path!

Great thanks, that's really reassured me. By the way, you do Geography... do you know a guy called Chris? Also just finished first year Geog, he gave me a campus tour yesterday. Kinda tall and thin and fair hair, sort of Leicester/a bit northern accent :p:

OP I'm really sorry for hijacking your thread but I figured you'd finished, so... hehe.

Lol it's a small world. He lived in Digby halls in the same block as my friend Phil as well, which was a bit of a coincidence! Random!
~NC~ thankyou for the rep
My Dad reckons he can get from here to Leicester in 2.5 hours but then he's always saying stuff like that and we get lost or stuck in traffic :p: But I live in almost South East London, so maybe it's a little closer rather than being in the heart of Kent

Once you get out of London it'll take an hour/ hour and a half. I live just north of London and it's easy peasy just going up the M1

lol i think i know the Phil as well!! I knew quite a few of his digby block!
And no problem on the rep  I live South east London/Kent too.... definatly not in the heart of Kent lol! And weve driven it in 2 hours before, there was no traffic which was pretty cool. But then again it has taken my parents 5 hours to drive home before cos of traffic by the Dartford Toll tunnel!

Ah the Dartford tunnel, that's horrendous at times. I live about 15 minutes from Dartford :p: Wow if you know Phil that'd be so cool, he goes to my church. Digby blue block, does english/R.S. and plays Bass :p: Who knows, you might live near me... that's be a weird coincidence!
2 hours isn't bad at all, I'm considering Kent uni too and that take 1/1.5 hours in the car, not a lot of difference!

lol! I live about 25 mins from Dartford, well i think... i don't often go there. I live In Bromley if you've heard of it. And hmmm i do know most of the blue block! And the green block... i think ive met him on a night out lol!
lol i went and visited my friends at Kent uni, it took an hour and a bit on the train.... considering Leicester is much further away it only takes a little bit longer to get to Leicester! Have you visited both the unis? I know you said you visited Kent... but don't make your decision purely on the distance! Go on which one you prefer and which one you like the course better in.

Hehe you live in Bromley! I live in Bexley lol, my Nan lives in Orpington. Wow it really is a small world  Haha wouldn't be surprised if you've met Phil on a night out.
I kinda really really like both unis, Canterbury is a really beautiful city, but I haven't actually visited the language department because I was just visiting a friend. But yeah I have to wait until I've applied and visited Bristol as well before I make any decisions, have got a while yet! But right now I am really interested in the course at Leicester because of the three week summer school for languages  I've just finished writing my PS first draft... it's probably terrible but I'm getting it checked by a PS helper.
Slightly off topic...
But whats the parking situation like near the halls? Plenty of spaces?

lol very small world indeed!

Yer Canterbury is a lovely city, i got a quick tour when i visited my friends there, i loved it, it was so nice. Yer thats cool! And yerp no need to make drastic decisions, make sure wherever you end up you end up in a place you will love!

lol the ps helpers will let you know soon if its good or bad im sure! But im sure it isn't bad! I would look over it for you but i specialise in geog ps'es so there would be no point lol!

Ermmm there are some spaces... i wouldn't say loads but i wouldn't say they were in short supply. I know theres quite a few in GMS, about 20 behind Bowder, some out of the front of Kent house and by kent lodge and then there is a carpark at Stamford. I'm not as sure about the other halls though. I know john foster has spaces, don't know about digby or beaumont though i;m afraid.

Yeah I will take my time and make sure I love wherever I end up! First though, gotta get through year 13 :p: I'm predicted BB? at the moment because my geog teacher wants to see what AS grade I get before she predicts an A2 one. But it'll probably be predicted BBC or BBD because the geog exam this year was horrible!

Random hijacking question (sorry Redpanda ):

where do you actually put your bicycle? Is there a safe place to lock your bicycle at the uni campus itself, and what about Oadby, where are those usually located?

I think this thread has been well and truly hijacked :ninja: Because it wasn't redpandas thread :p:
And yer there are bike sheds at halls, this year it was a £10 deposit 5 of which is returned. And then at uni they're are bike hoops absolutely everywhere which you can chain your bike to

 hi, i am wondering what's the point of getting a buss pass when students frm oadby would get a lift from the student union bus (mornin n evenin).Or Is it just better to get a bus pass than relying on the student union bus.
