Hi!
I'm a biomed undergrad looking to apply to graduate entry medicine. Alongside my degree I've worked as an HCA, with St John Ambulance, and in A&E. I think I've got enough work experience to know that I would enjoy the clinical side of medicine, but my plans have been disrupted by a lab placement that I enjoyed too much!
This has lead me to consider GEM with the goal of becoming a clinical academic.
1) Do you guys think I should be looking to do a PhD before, during, or after med school?
2) Is being a clinical academic in a basic science (ie. not directly translational) field a reasonable aspiration?
