GMC Accreditation for newer Medical Schools

Hello, I'm going to be applying to medical school in the future and I have a concern about accreditation. In the unlikely event that a new medical school doesn't get accredited - what would happen to the students still studying the medicine degree there e.g if they were just finishing the first or second year of the medicine course?

I hear that newer medical schools have a sponsoring medical school - does this mean that the students will be awarded a degree from the sponsor medical school if their own one doesn't get accredited? I don't want to take a risk by studying 2 or 3 years for the university to turn around and say that I'll be getting a medical sciences degree instead because the school couldn't be accredited by the GMC.

Thank you for any responses in advance

What you've written here is the correct answer. To the best of my knowledge, this has never actually happened btw.
