Does anyone know the process of how an exam paper is marked, and what actually happens to the paper after its done with?

thanks

My teacher told me it's kept in an office for 10 years or something which you can (I think) buy back or something, then recycled.

It's probarbly BS, anyone know anything?

Hmm, good question. I'd guess they'd keep them for few years, then just recycle them- as said above

Think theres a bit more than that, examiners and specialists look at student responses to develop syllabi in the futur and exam papers, its also used to notify schools which areas of the syllabus students had perticular trouble in what they need to work on.

After that, they're probably just stored for futur reference (doubt that ever happens  ).
I know you can buy your script, but they keep the originals so it's just a photocopy. I think they have a digital copy, and recycle the rest.

Yeah, they compile an examiners report for each subject, based on student responses and marks etc which can be found on exam board websites for a particular subject.

I think they're also kept, I'm told, as you can appeal up to 5 years after the exam.

You can appeal results for a few months after an exam (until 20th Sept for the summer GCSEs), you can ask for a copy of the script or for the original (there's a fee for each of these services). Once the appeals period is over your script may be recyled at any time.
