UMS and marks conversions?

Hi!
Just wanted to ask you that when the grade boundaries for a gcse exam are lowered for an a*, does that mean the UMS will also lower and you may still get 100 UMS? You see, I don't see the point in lowering the grade boundaries is the UMS conversion will be exactly the same as before.
Thanks to anyone who can answer

Yh, good point, but if an A* is lowered and you just hit that grade boundary it would be nicer to put on your application cv you got an A* rather than an A, if the grade boundary was higher.

If the grade boundaries are lowered, the UMS conversions will still correspond like they usually do; getting an A* will get you 90 (or 100 if you get a high A*), A gets you 80, B gets you 70, etc...
