An international student want to qualify the undergraduate law

Hi,

I am an international student and I have an undergraduate law degree from Vietnam and I just finish my master degree in law in Brunel University. I would like to be a solicitor in the UK. I need to qualify my undergraduate degree. I am confusing between GDL and MA in law. Could an MA in law from Bristol University qualify my degree which is the same with GDL ( because as I know GDL can qualify my international undergraduate degree). Also, which course GDL or MA is good for me?

Thank you so much.
If youve already done an MA in law at Brunel then why would you want to do another one?

You should contact the SRA to determine what qualifications you need to do. It isnt clear what your LLM covers as it may gain you exemptions from the GDL.

Contact the SRA.

You can then pick the GDL you need. the two main providers are either BPP or the Uni of law.

Then you would do the LPC at either of the above for 1 year.

You then need a 2 year training contract the hard part. If you are Vietnamese then you will need to get an employer to sponsor you which could be difficult as you do not have the right to work here. Possible but difficult. there is a lot of competition be warned.

the MA in law in Bristol University is senior status postgraduate qualifying law degree. It makes me confuse which one is better GDL or that MA. I will contact the SRA.

Thank you very much for your reply.
