Do I really have a chance of getting into Vet school?

Hi, I really want to be a vet, and currently in year 12. Please can I get an honest opinion of whether or not I actually have a chance of getting into vet school?

GCSEs:
Biology A*
Chemistry A*
Physics A*
Geography A*
Maths 8
English Lan 7
English Lit 7
Dance A (1 UMS off an A*)
History A
French A
So that gives me 5A*s, 5As.

My AS mocks grades
Biology A
Chemistry A
Geography A

I am also doing an EPQ on 'Should Veterinary Homeopathy be banned?'

For work experience:
I only have 1 week in a Kennels/Cattery
2 days in one SA clinic
3 days in another SA clinic (specialising in Exotics)

By next October I will hopefully have 8 weeks worth of work experiecne, and 5 weeks worth of volunteering at a SA clinic, so 13 weeks overall.

Extras:
-Gold DofE
-Dance (Intermediate Modern- Distinction in last exam)
-Netball
-Volunteer once a week at a sports club which helps children with disabilities
-Go a primary school once a week and mentor the less capable children
-Mentor younger years in Biology, Chemistry and Geography
-Mentor a Yr 8 pupil who is currently doing a GEMS project (Level 1 Extended project)
-Have a part time job as a receptionist in a beauty clinic

Thankyou for all replies in advance!

If you make a strong personal statement, and your interview goes well next year, then I see why not

The grades are all fine for vet med! It is your work experience that at present would be the biggest concern however if you have already made plans to correct this then that is another area not to worry about. As said above if you focus on your personal statement and your interviews go well you have a near perfect application!
Your grades are fine. Your work experience is lacking massively in farm and equine placements

As others have said above, you need to work on your work experience. The grades are fab.

Find a dairy farm, or book in for some Lambing its not too late, farms lamb as early as January in some places. so you could do weekends and build up.

Personally I didn't have any equine experience before Vet School.
However, I made up for this. with
4 weeks Dairy
2 weeks Beef/Calving,
4 weeks pigs
8 weeks lambing
4 weeks SA
Abattoir visits and others bits like working with local community farm.

If you can find a good farm who can take the time to show you things and you impress them, they might recommend other places you can get experience.
It is worth starting to look now, as farms start advertising and looking for help for lambing this time of year.

You've got enough time, but you'll need to prioritise, lambing is time crucial, the others can be booked over the summer if needs be, but get that done early. Then you might just have to sacrifice a few weekends.

Good luck!
