RIP so sad.

The death is always a sad moment, but this one in particular. Both father and daughter dead. :frown:
In defense of generallee, if a more popular athlete than even Kobe Bryant who wasn't American but instead hailed from a developing country such as, say - Sachin Tendulkar (who has 31.5m Twitter followers to Kobe's 15.3m) - were to meet a similarly untimely end, you can bet the British news corporations wouldn't make as high a profile story of it. So I am in agreement that this news story has been blown somewhat out of proportion due to a degree of pro-American bias.

Helicopters are dangerous man.

Helicopters are very safe when operated properly, by the sounds of it the pilot was flying in poor conditions without proper safety equipment. It was most likely a bad judgement call from the pilot (helicopters are more vulnerable to bad weather than planes), or even pressured to get his superstar client to his destination.

if they lost power you are basically screwed with a plane it can still fly with one engine just look at the celebrities killed by helicopters coline mcrae Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and now this guy

You'll be surprised to learn that many sources actually claim helicopters are safer in the event of an engine failure. Likely because of their smaller profile and the slower speeds involved.

Furthermore, helicopters aren't these rocks that suddenly drop out of the sky. You may well also be surprised to know that helicopters can in fact glide through a manoeuvre called autorotation. It's also worth noting that the helicopter Kobe was in was a twin-engined aircraft, a dual engine failure is extremely unlikely.

Also, planes crashes have killed more high-profile people in the last 10 years than helicopter crashes.
