Can you use the same principles to describe the process in plants?

As @bl0bf1sh said, you're able to use the same principles to describe the process in plants.

1. Wheat plants with the desired characteristics are bred together. In this case, tall wheat plants (good crop yield, but damaged by the weather) and dwarf wheat plants (resistant to the wind, but low crop yield).

2. The offspring with the best characteristics are bred together again.

3. This will be continued over several generations resulting in a new variety of wheat with high crop yield.
