Hi all,

I am currently recruiting participants for anonymous online surveys as part of my PhD research (psychology). Here are some more details about the two surveys currently running:

1) Reasons for using fake profiles - This survey explores the non-financial reasons for online misrepresentation. We are looking for volunteers aged 18+ who are currently using a fake profile, or have done so in the past, to take part (https://uclan.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_37RuLssCEjTnLdc).

2) Impacts of using fake profiles - This survey explores the impacts of online misrepresentation in cases where money does not appear to be a motivating factor. We are looking for volunteers aged 18+, who have experienced somebody communicating with them through a fake online profile, to take part (https://uclan.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cuuZKORsKsylvKK).

Here are the adverts for both surveys - Please follow the link/scan the QR code to participate. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Have you watched hunting the catfish crime gang documentary on bbc iplayer? It's all about fake profiles, catfishing and the serious side of it which includes forced scamming, human trafficking etc!!! The guy James Blake actually meets a psychologist in the documentary who talks all about their personalities etc it's insane
