Studying a Foundation course at the Kingston School of Art

For those of you wanting to do any arts course at university then the conversation of a foundation year is bound to benefit one you face! Whether it be from teachers or fellow peers, a foundation course can be well worth considering.

A foundation year can help prepare you for any creative course. Here at the Kingston School of Art we offer a foundation year and if it’s something your interested in then Kingston is definitely one to think about!

The course is taught by a number of tutors from the creative industry and can allow you to build skills outside of your degree that will help make your work multi disciplinary and unique.

It’s also a great opportunity to see how you feel about a university before you commit to a BA undergraduate course as it gives you the opportunity to get a feel for the style of teaching and the vibe of the city!

Another plus about studying the foundation course at the Kingston School of Art is that you are able to access the workshop facilities for free, with ability to talk to any of the technicians to support personal work or university related projects. The workshops at the KSA are amazing and worth looking into further.

Much like any uni course there is entry requirements which can be found on the Kingston university website:

Are you thinking of doing a foundation course? If you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments!

Is this a foundation year or a foundation diploma?
The funding is very different for a foundation diploma.

Do you know the ESFA rules on actively recruiting students outside your region for an ESFA funded course like a Foundation Diploma?

Hi @PQ,

This course is a foundation diploma at Kingston University which is a one year course.

The UK government website is really helpful for information on the ESFA rules. I have left a link below for you to check out.

So you know the rules and are actively breaking them?

Or maybe Kingston has permission from the ESFA to advertise their FAD course outside their local region?
