AS physics help

Hey all
I’m really confused as to why we need to find an angle to find the uncertainty of the velocity. I just don’t understand what’s happening at all. I’ve attached the paper (it is q16 bii) and also the mark scheme

Please help!!

As in part A, the detector only detects the velocity that is parallel to OA and neglects other velocity.
Let theta be the angle AOB and let u be velocity of served tennis ball.
So the recorded value will be u*cos(theta)
actual value will be u.
You can work out % error by working out theta.
