Relocated for job and now feel homesick :(

Hi guys,

So basically I have just moved to London to start a grad job and miss my family terribly. I am from a small village so moving to a big city was scary. My housemates are lovely but they are a family so I feel a bit left out.

I was struggling to find a job so when the offer came for this I didnt think twice but it has been two months since I have moved and it hasnt gotten any easier.

I don't have family around here and the people at my workplace aren't that sociable. So it makes me miss my family more. When i went to uni it was exciting to be away from home but my course was 4 years so I feel like I have experienced the independent living. My contract is for 3 years which is just making me think how will I cope. I genuinely just want to go back but know that is stupid as I have signed onto a minimum 6 months tenancy agreement and have no job lined up.

Any advice is appreciated please as I just constantly find myself crying.
How far away is home? You can always go back on weekends. Join some hobbies or groups such as meetup.com, Spice, Thinking Bob or City Socialiser. You can meet people who are in similar situations and new to the area who will then become friends as you have shared interests.*
I recently turn a role that require me to international mobile (I have to spend 12 month away) because I would free a lot like you. I don't know what to tell because it's sticky out here as a graduate, but your clearly unhappy. Try join social groups in London and then when get a bit of experience you decide if you want to move back.

Home is 2 and a half hours away I want to try and go home as much as I can but it probably will get expensive. Thank you I will probably start joining them that will at least be a good way to meet new people.

Thank you I'll try social groups as at least it'll keep me occupied. Yeah tbh I'm hoping to move back after some time but as i get professional training it's in my contract that if i leave i have to pay training costs back which are around £3000 :frown: just feel bit trapped really
Try Skype too and your family and friends come to visit you.
