You might need to test out what happens with "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind", especially it is is facing off against another long-titled film.

I'll call it eternal sunshine and be done with it. Lol.

All LOTR:return of the King will be fine for the other long one.

I finished in the prizes the last time we did this 3 years ago, but I never got the prizes

So I think we have all three of the previous winners in now if you enter.

And I apologise for last time. It was organised by one guy and I think the prizes fell through. This time that will 100% definitely not happen since these are TSR funded by captain jack himself.

I don't know most of the films  and haven't got excel on my laptop

If I made a different way for you to enter would that make you enter? I didn't realise how few people would have excel.

I think Google docs online can be used to open these things and edit them if you have a Google account.

I also came in top 3 last time when Phalanges ran it! :five: Also never got prize but those were sorted by Phalanges himself where as mine are from Captain Jack and we've been allocated the "competition fund" for August for this so we're set. I'm also working in the office atm so can make sure. :colone:

I dunno. I think Shawshank won last time against a batman film in the semis or final.

We at least did Genres separately at first but you have to have weird matchups to eliminate things.

Also, did you come back after getting my PM? Not sure if that worked since i was basically PMing mostly dead accounts from 3 years ago. I think if people still have PM emails on it could work to bring them back.

Sometimes if I am on my PC and a bit bored I will pop on to TSR and have a bit of a lurk. Just a coincidence it happened on that day! I am not on my PC as often as I used to be now I am paying my own electricity bill, have a full time job, and all the other crap being an adult entails (and a smartphone means I don't need to switch on to get my e-mails and whatnot). Being almost a decade older than a lot of TSR users (I am 25 this August) means it's not really my peer group anymore, and a lot of the conversation is things I'm not really interested in or can't help with. I used to help in the Coventry forum a lot, but seeing as it is many years since I graduated I can't do that now.

I think you go through a sort of withdrawal - first you decide to quit, then you decide you can't, then you just slowly stop going on as much until TSR has changed almost unrecognisably (removing neg rep anyone? PS Help has changed as well), people you know have left, and you feel a bit old. When you're working for TSR it's obviously different! I doubt the PM will get anyone back as a regular member, but kudos for trying.

Fair enough. During my final year i went through a "Check in once a day" phase as i was mega busy with full time placement work as well doing all my uni work in the evenings. If you're using a smartphone we have a much upgraded mobile website now, and we have the app. I'd recomend the mobile website over the app though due to it having the notifications, WQM, rep and polls etc.

I'm 22 so a recent finsiher of uni and graduating next week. I find having a few graduates on the site makes it more interesting but i do see your point.

The rep system is going through more changes later this year as well. And PS Help has changed a lot. We have the builder now. https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/personal_statement_builder/ AS well as other things that have not launched yet. It will be a much improved service though tbh.

Working for them is interesting tbh. You see an entire other side of TSR. The PM worked on you at least so it did something. And i've seen or two other oldies on the thread which i think the PM dragged in.

P.S. I remember you back from the good old days of the Friends Trivia Quiz. I remember one day my entire WQM was you from that quiz. Different username back then for me. (MH orman)

Try google docs?

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets
Considering the number of super hero movies, that could've been a genre unto itself. Animation too but I guess that would be harsh because the big hitters in Animation could fit in to any genre. My personal favourite is Kung Fu Panda; it's a lot more fun the the Toy Story series.

I find these things very difficult to vote on. Because there is a big difference between MY FAVOURITES and movies I think that are brilliant technically and deserve merit. Favourties can be low brow stuff too-- for example Beverly Hills Cop, Blue Streak and Home Alone would be in my all time lists because they are just so fun to watch and I've watched them a million times; but they'll never feature in any all time list.

So many great movies not included-- Kickass, Raid 2, Ip Man, Assassination of Jesse James, Casino, Apocalypto, Enter the Dragon (few more iconic movies than this). Kickass and Raid 2 are modern classics in my opinion. I don't care how new they are!

Edit: Just noticed you do have Animation:
1. The Lion King
8. Monsters, Inc.
4. Up
5. How to Train Your Dragon
2. WALL.E
7. Finding Nemo
3. Toy Story 3
6. Mary and Max

How to Train your Dragon and Finding Nemo but no Kung Fu Panda? damn. Arguably Grave of The Fireflies should feature here.

Anyway, I'll be watching how this progresses

True but no list will ever be perfect and i think we covered all the main awesome films that would end up in the semi finals/Finals anyway.

The lists for each genre were based off IMDB ranking which was the fairest way of doing it.

In the perfect world we'd start with 256 films instead of 64 but making 128 polls for the first round would be a pain and no-one wants to vote in that many anyway.

Stop winging and fill out the prediction excel bracket and get involved!

The second round pained me to write, it's just wrong but I think people will be wrong.

Is there a version on Google thingy?

I don't have Excel on my laptop

I always thought everyone has Open Office if they don't have full Microsoft Office, apparently not so much

Try downloading the file Then go to

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets

And open the file from your PC. . Then Save the finished version back to your laptop, Then attach it back here.

(The formatting may go a little weird on google docs but you should still be able to see what should be happening)

Looks good to me! You still went traditional with Godfather for the win but No Shawshank even into the final?

PS, Quote a few others in. Think Areeb and rapez from muscle building soc are already entering but invite some others.

I really like Shawshank and feel asleep during the first LOTR (and other than Titanic, I don't fall asleep during films) so never bothered with the rest. But I think LOTR will do better because of the student demographic than it would generally.

It's 2am so quoting folks in is too much effort, might do tomorrow

I found LOTR kinda boring too. Too long, too much talking about so-and-so from the land of x etc Special effects were amazing, battle scenes good, smeagol was brilliant but that's it. The plot is rubbish and it just didn't hold my attention. This is one of the most overrated series in movie history.

Shawshank gets mentioned a lot without the mention of American History X. That was more hard hitting and dark and it's as good as Shawshank imo.

Does this work?
If yes, yay
If not, oops.

(I had to keep converting it )

My choices are slightly messed up...
I think it's because I had to choose between what I like and what TSR users like :dontknow: It ended up a bit weird

EDIT: Won't let me add an attachment?

Yeah, LOTR got too detailed on the plot and I couldn't even remember who was who after a while. I think you have to be properly into fantasy to really enjoy it but it is very popular and I suspect who it is popular with has a fair bit of overlap with young people who use forums. I think it would have been better as one big fight and adventure film but fans of it will probably think that's sacrilege.

I saw American History X long enough ago that I'm rather fuzzy on it but I don't think I thought it was quite as good as Shawshank.

I once tried watching all of the LOTR films in one day but was so frigging bored by the last one we just skipped to the big battle. I've never personally seen the appeal of them. It seems to be a very simple storyline but Awesome special effects for 10 hours.

I agree with you about LOTR completely.

American History X is in here. It'll fail against Shawshank in the popular vote though obviously.

Also, Where's your excel bracket? Come on... Hurry up.
(Then quote in some more people)

Inb4 I save you the effort by telling you Shawshank will blatantly win
