Are IT jobs except programming all telephone support?

Worked on the phones for a year now and Im wondering what are my options? I do not want to be on the phones anymore... Is this all there is to IT? I do not want to go into networks or security either its too much hassle. I am more interested in hardware possibly server side stuff if anything (though I have next to no server knowledge) it seems with no interest in networks etc nor security I have no options left..

There are lots of jobs in IT from business analyst (converting business requirements into software / IT solutions), consultancy, software testing, project management, software development, network administration etc. But in the pure IT side of things you have to be a bit of a master of everything. When you say server stuff, other than swapping the odd hard drive / memory card out, that is about it. The rest is configuring and administration but I would be amazed if that was a full time job. You would still be required to set up routers and plumb in the odd Ethernet cable.

Networking isn't that bad - what have you got against it?
