Hey there, thanks for posting a question in the Medicine forum.
The Medicine forum gets a high volume of questions being posted, and some of these are already answered by the resources and Megathreads that members of the community and volunteers have created. I am enthusiastic about medicine and have set my sights on achieving top A-level grades by the end of year 13 (As, A*s). However, I encountered a setback in my GCSE English Language exam, where I received a grade 5 instead of the minimum grade 6 for most unis.
Would undertaking the UCAT exams would be worthwhile. As the majority of universities consider the English Language requirement as essential, I am unsure if investing time and effort into the UCAT exams would be the most efficient use of my resources. However, I remain open to your advice on whether pursuing the UCAT exams would still be beneficial in anyway. It's June now so I've missed chances to resit the GCSE English language exam (there are reasons for this) and I'm guessing November resits will be too late as the application deadline is before this.
What are my options?
I think most of univ wants minimum 6, but from top of my head I think Newcastle doesn't but there UCAT is really high, the other option is foundation/gateway courses , they have extra conditions like the school you go to or your postcode. look at them here https://www.themedicportal.com/application-guide/choosing-a-medical-school/foundation-courses/?v=79cba1185463. My advice is to start reserching all the univs and then make short list . good luck
