Should i go for STP course of cardiac science

Hello! I graduated in General Medicine from Ukraine in 2020 and am currently pursuing an MSc in Cardiovascular Science and Diabetes. I plan to take the PLAB exam for a medical license in the UK, but I'm facing difficulties booking a slot. Since I will graduate from the Cardiovascular Science and Diabetes program in September, I am considering my options for the future.

Recently, I visited the career hub at my university seeking advice. They recommended applying for the STP (Scientist Training Program) job, which is a three-year program involving studies in cardiac science. I'm unsure whether this path is worth pursuing and would appreciate any suggestions or insights. Given the challenges in finding jobs, I'm exploring various opportunities and would like to make an informed decision about my career path.

If you have a general medicine and MSc, I think you are in a good position to apply directly for jobs.

Are you wanting a career as a Medic or Clinical Scientist?

If I were you I would apply for NHS Band 5 and above positions while waiting to take your PLAB exam. I don't think an STP is necessarily worth it for you, as it is more studies for another degree but perhaps not necessarily the right job. If you are wanting to do three years of studies perhaps a PhD is better, as if you get a medical license + PhD you will have more options to do research and practice Medicine.
