Film Fanatics - Chat Thread II

Because, unlike you, i sub mainly for TBR and other bits and frankly it's turned absolutely crap because of a few things that've happened.

I still get to keep my big flashy avatar and i can usually work out who's repped me anyway. There's little to no reason for me to carry on subbing basically.

I've never found TBR that entertaining, tbh. I really just read through it for the gossip, and arguments.

Anyway, looking for a film with a certain type of dialogue; Pulp Fiction / Reservoir Dogs / Snatch type.... hilarious and constantly quotable but not Airplane type humour.

Any suggestions

*jumps into convo* I've never really liked TBR and the only single time I tried to contribute to the Shoutbox I was shouted out of it so meh to that... Stupid TSR subs who think they're the lad crew of the playground

I've never really wanted to post there. It just doesn't have a particularly appealing atmosphere. Lots of nice and friendly people there, of course but at the same time, a lot of bitching going on. Also a bit clique-y. Conversations are scattered a lot too. I prefer threads like these and society threads for 'general chat' and the rest of TSR to talk to people I've never talked to before.

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels may just fit that requirement. Can't remember the film all that well.

Seen Jackie Brown as well . I saw Bad Romance a few back as well, which I think Tarantino wrote, it was hilarious in some parts, especially the "Sicilians" scene. Can't think of a film associated with Tarantino which didn't have amazing dialogue.

I saw Good Will Hunting for only the second time a few days ago as well, and I was blown away at how good the screenplay was, I don't think it registered the first time.

Haven't seen Layer Cake, will check it out. Trainspotting definitely fits the bill though.

I don't know what it is about these "slick crime film" they're always so amazing. Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Casino etc. all so quotable.

Trainspotting vs Shallow Grave?

I know, Tarantino just can't get it wrong can he? I mean Kill Bill wasn't brilliant but it just worked!

That's what happened with me and The Social Network - I loved it the first time but when I saw it again... just blew me away!

Both excellent, but I idolise Trainspotting, so I'd have to go with that.



I'm going to let you down once more and tell you I thought Kill Bill was so, so, overrated and that I have no desire to watch The Social Network.

I've got to be honest, now is one of the most interesting period that I've witnessed. There's a whole influx of subs who're a younger "clique" but take things a lot less seriously to some extent. The friction caused is interesting reading, and it makes TBR seem less set in its ways, less people who regularly meet using it as MSN. Less cliquey and bitchy than it was now though. I made this point a few days back too; I don't think TBR is the best way to form an impression of someone, and especially not the shout box.

That's the major reason i'm desubbing and leaving TBR tbh.

Fair play to them it is now their box but i'm not paying every month to sit about listening to crappy jokes and even worse trolls. I found the box much more welcoming when i first subbed half a year a go before the 'nu-trolls' subbed.
