Acetate rods and polythene rods

I'm not sure if this is should be in the GCSE forums but anyways..

Basically my question is that when an when an acetate rod is rubbed with a duster, electrons are transferred from the rod onto the duster; however when a polythene rod is rubbed with a duster the electrons are transferred from the duster to rod. Why is this?

Put simply, it depends on the material as to whether the electrons are transferred and static charge builds up.
