seriously where are the classic romcoms? There are tons of "classic" films that I've seen but aren't on this list!!

I suppose we could have had a romcom group, but then we would have had to drop another group to make way for it. As it is it would count under the comedy / family / romance group, however romcoms are going to struggle on IMDb.

Some specific genres, e.g. romcom, foreign language, anime etc. in this case, just have to be either left out or merged.

56/64

I've not seen:

American History X
The Green Mile
Sunset Boulevard
The Pianist - shame on me!
Braveheart - no interest whatsoever!
Goodfellas - not sure how I've never got around to it
How to Train Your Dragon
Mary and Max - but I'll vote for it because Toy Story 3 is sooooo overrated!

Which is your favourite of them?

Forrest gump and Cuckoo's Next are classic films so good work on having watched them. I wouldn't have guessed tbh.

Finding Nemo's such a classic for me, the effects made me feel like there in the sea as a kid

I watched Cuckoo's Nest with my dad and he actually watched it when it was first released so he understood the meaning of the film better than me. But as I watched Cuckoo's Nest, I found it interesting understanding a mental patients' perspective on the 'outside world' that the same people take for granted. That's why I enjoy the film so much

These two films are possibly my favourite out of them all
I have seen 29 of them.
...8, and 6 of those are from the animated section.

I don't watch many movies :colondollar:
8.
Seven of them were from the animation section :colondollar:
About half of them
I've seen 8 of them...and 7 are from the animation section  I've at least seen Back to the Future! There are so many I've never seen and always wanted to. But my family has crappy taste in movies and I don't have the money to buy 'em

City of God is great. I've seen Seven Samurai but it was years ago and I can't remember it. I'm going to be completely honest and admit I haven't seen seen any of those war films you mentioned :colondollar: - I'm not hugely in to war films but I liked Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Saints and Soldiers and a few others.

I think it would have been good to have a surrealist category (although I don't know if there's many people who are in to surrealism on here). Eraserhead, Un Chien Andalou etc.

I haven't seen Saints and Soldiers, I'll be on the look out for it :yy:

Naked Lunch should definitely be in the surrealist category. I can make neither heads nor tails of the film, let alone the book.

A foreign language category including City of god was discussed in the planning but it was cut to make way for animation. since this is a student site after all and more people will have seen the animations then they will the foreign films.

Well, what would you say is the best western film? One on the list? We based off IMDB rankings so not perfect but it covers 95+% of great films imo.

PS, go vote + debate these things in the threads. the 4 starting Western polls are up and running right now...

I haven't seen many Western films if I'm being honest. The Dollars trilogy, Hang 'Em High, and Shane are the only ones I've seen. I should really get my Western on.

A martial arts category would've been cool, there are so many to choose from but it is relatively niche compared to the broadness of the other categories.

I haven't seen Naked Lunch but it does sound quite good, I'm going to try and get hold of that.

So it takes 30 days to run? Do I win a prize if I can have watched all 64 films by the time the competition finishes? (The 11 I've not seen, not all 64 again!)

I can give you a celebratory cup of tea/coffee in the office and that's all i can stretch to.
