Well what is an A* then?
I mean if a 9 is above A* and a 7 is an A, well obviously an 8 is an A* then, makes sense
Yes. It's an A*.
ye it is
plus oxfords website says they consider A* equiv to 8/9
An 8 is an A*. A 9 is A**. That's how I see it so yes it it's an A*. Well done

It is essentially an A*, yes. 9 was created for people who can do better than an A* in the old system.

It's under the GCSE tab
If universities consider it on the same level as A*, it is the same level as A*, period.

7 is considered an A, 9 is considered above A*, so use your common sense.
I just saw that Cardiff consider only a 9 to be A*, 8 is "only" an A.

Link??
It covers the ground between a 7 (which is the old A) and a 9 (which is above an A*). Officially, it covers the top of an A up to probably about the middle of an A* but the general consensus is to accept it as an A*. Most universities and sixth forms treat it as an A*.
