It's Acer, bottom of the table in terms of reliability in the current market, also that GT610 is just better than integrated graphics.

Yeah, I'm aware of their problems with reliability, I'll be sure to get some sort of warranty or insurance. I can't find a higher spec one for about £450 though.

to be fair the only spec you can't get is a dedicated graphics card with Intel..............GT610M is weakest in that GT6xx series, so you should have a look on youtube to see the games you wanna play are playable.

Ahh okay. Can anyone recommend something within my budget that'll meet the other requirements?

This is great:

Yeah that's nice, being Lenovo is a plus too.
Would 4GB be enough RAM for video editing and Photoshop?

I found this and this too
It's a difficult task, finding the right one haha.

The one I linked is better and cheaper. Maybe worth buying an extra 4 gigs and sticking it in - only costs £15 and the Lenovo is £50 under budget anyway

Good point
Here's hoping the RAM is easy to access and I buy the right ones
Hi Guys, looking for a new desktop here

- preferably i3
- 4GB RAM
- 500GB and up for the HDD
- no monitor needed

will be using this for essay writing, browsing, possibly some downloading too but generally light use.

Budget: £400 max

Any tips or ideas? Particular brands I should avoid and or ones that are definitely trustworthy?

Any help is much appreciated!

£308.91 without an OS, but decent value.

or have a look at PCWorld on-line......

There's 3 that meet your need from there under £400 and with OS.

or look at the custom ones:

from £315, its decent, you add a few extras on and make it look nice
Best company to buy a £500+++ gaming PC on interest free buy now pay later?

I've heard www.pcspecialist.co.uk is good?

I say 'gaming PC', I just want it for general use and the added option of being able to play a game lag free when I want.

Well if you had the money it's better to build it rather than get it built by a company.

Depends on the options you get and the settings you want to play it on.

Yeah that's what I want to do. A company that let's you choose every component and sells it to you for a total price.... but with buy now pay later because I'm not parting with £1000 straight off (need a monitor too, external HD, keyboard etc).

well it'll eat into your budget the extra things like a monitor............if you planning proper gaming, than the i5-3570k is the best processor for it, you don't need anything higher cos doesn't improve on gaming........than picking a good motherboard coupled with a very good graphics card, which depends on how much overall is spent.

Have a trial run and show us what you get

Cool cheers, I used to know a bit about computers maybe 3-4 years ago but my knowledge is a bit outdated now.

I'll need a monitor obviously, it's more so a good company that does buy now pay later schemes so I can get a better setup sooner. My laptop screen is hanging off by the wires now and I'll be screwed if it decides to fall off all of a sudden!

yeah true, but I built mine on a limit budget hence why I say it's better to build it at home and much cheaper

Thanks a lot for your reply! I actually had an eye on the LENOVO H330:http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-h330-desktop-pc-11875771-pdt.html

I don't have any experience with Lenovo computers, would you say this is a good brand?
Could someone outline what graphics card, motherboard etc. they'd get for around £750 max?

As I said, I like to play whatever game, make sure it can handle whatever I throw at it. I'll add the monitor on myself.

I'm overwhelmed with all the power supply, graphics card (haven't a clue the price ranges so much!), motherboard or what processor... fans? I can only decide on what case to chose which is probably the most useless part.
