Private or Uni managed accomodation?

Me again, can anyone tell me from experience or if they know... are the private accomodation such as opal court, liberty park etc less fun than uni owned accomodation? I have applied for kirkstall but am considering chaning my mind because, my thing is music! And I'd like to be near the met bar etc and where it's all happening, although my course is at headingley it seems the theme of the area is very sports based.

I'd prefer to live in the nearer city ones I've decided but not if they're really strict!!
