Mechanics Help - Statics, friction and slopes.

Hey guys, got a rather frustrating question that I've been trying to do all day but with no luck.

Here is a link to the questions.

I am able to do a and b.

I think c) is F = W Sin30 - 50

I think d) is N = W Cos30 = 86.6

Although if I have gone wrong here then it would explain it.

The last 2 questions I am not able to do. I have asked Reddit but so far no one has given me a step by step guide on how to calculate the weight of the crate, with the 2 unknowns N and W.

Can someone please help me out? Thanks

You have the answers to a and b, the wrong way around.

I think c) is F = W Sin30 - 50

Yes, though you can simplify that to F=0.5W - 50

I think d) is N = W Cos30 = 86.6

I sure you meant N = W cos 30 + 86.6

You need to use the relationship between F and N that involves the coefficient of friction.

F=μNF=\mu N

And that will allow you to eliminate N, to get an equation just involving W.
