Concentration of Nitric Acid

Calculate the concentration of Nitric Acid if 25cm3 of Nitric Acid is neutralised by 15cm3 of 0.2 mol dm-3 ammonium hydroxide?

Help asap please :frown:

symbol equation literally have no idea how to do anything more
1 write down symbol equation
2 find ratio of reactants
3 find out how many moles of ammonium hydroxide you have using n=cV (remember to convert to dm^3!!!)
4 use ratio to find how many moles of acid you have
5 use c = n/V to find concentration of acid

hope this helps

how do I actually do steps 3 -5?

how do I actually do steps 3 -5?

Moles = conc x volume (in dm^3)

= (0.2)(15/1000)

Then you use ratio to find Moles of nitric acid

So you know Moles and volume of nitric acid, can find conc using above formula

3- How do you calculate the number of moles of an aqueous solution?? Surely you'd know this given this is an A2 question.
4- This will be easier once you know 3
5- Just rearrange the moles equation to find the concentration

No way LOOOOOOL, this is what they do in GCSEs now? That's crazy, I don't even do this in uni

Lol are you serious? This is like the end of GCSE/beginning of AS

I didn't do it in GCSEs, nor in AS levels. Only in A2, and now that I'm studying dentistry, I've never encountered it in my pre-clinical biochemistry classes :/

But I think it's a good thing to expose it to people at a young age, because I remember how much I struggled with it o.o
