Feel free to post your revision techniques, queries, worries or anything really that relates to the C1 exam.

This thread is prominently for Year 11's doing the Chemistry GCSE or Year 10/11's doing Core Science

Here the OFFICIAL AQA Specification they are not allowed to ask anything in the paper which is not provided within the specification below.

Let everyone download that link or put it at the top of your thread I made and it's really useful it's from AQA but I deleted the unnecessary pages. Also this link here for revision it's also AQA. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/science/aqa/ Good Luck and as the 2014 paper and marking scheme:

What do you mean?
Guys... Is crude oil used to break down polymers?

What do you mean I do not understand?

Wait what. Since when did we need to know that kinda stuff???

We don't, she just asked what salt forms with calcium carbonate and Hcl so I'm guessing it's just calcium chloride

No. Crude Oil is just a mixture of chemical compounds I swear? You don't break down Polymers, all I know is from the Alkenes, you have individual strands called monomers and you put them together to get Polymers which is called Polymerisation.

There was lots of HSW stuff and also a little bit of B2 with cell structures for the second last q

I'm not sure to be honest but here is some important info

What is Distillation?
Distillation is when we make a liquid evaporate and then condense the vapour back to a purer liquid.

What does Unsaturated mean?
An unsaturated compound contains at least one double or triple bond.

What is a Hydrocarbon?
Hydrocarbons are a group of compounds which contain elements of hydrogen and carbon.

What is a Catalyst?
A catalyst changes the rate of a chemical reaction without having being changed by the reaction itself.

What is thermal decomposition?
A reaction in which substances are broken down by heat.

I hope I helped also

cracking is used to break polymers into monomers
