The main disadvantages are that land will inevitably be lost over time as erosion and flooding takes place, and people often have to be compensated for the loss of farmland, homes etc

oooh and sometimes the damage done is more expensive than if they were to actually put in another solution

Loss of homes farmland etc. Loss of habitat. could mean less customers for busniess
