S1 question

I can't figure out how to do questions 7iii and 5iv on this delphis paper (http://pmt.physicsandmathstutor.com/download/Maths/A-level/S1/Papers-Delphis/for-OCR/Delphis%2001%20-%20S1%20OCR.pdf - mark scheme is on the last 2 pages).

For question 7, I don't see how you can get the answer without using y = ax +b and I have no idea how to start 5iv.

Any hints would be appreciated.

Thanks
For question 7, it requests that you draw a scatter graph of the data given. Using that, you can then draw a line of best fit which can estimate how many J- registered vans there are.

Question 5iv, first find the odds of a single roll of 10 dice having at least one vertex up. An easy way to do this is to calculate the odds of having none vertex up then using 1-P to get the odds. The odds of none being vertex up is 0.45^10. Take this away from 1 to get the odds of at least one die having a vertex up.
Then you take that probability, and do P^30 for thirty consecutive rolls. That gives the answer.
