If we go in 2 different way for the same question, i am getting different answers. So how to know in which direction should i go?

short answer - you shouldn't get different answers. The two answers should be equivalent, maybe written in a different form but shouldn't get different answers. Post the question and your solutions to get some help.
Generally, I would say that you should usually try and answer the question using as many of the given values as possible (reduces potential for compounded error) or in the least possible steps.
