How can we check the course length because on the Accomodation it offers a range of either 38 weeks 42 weeks and some even 50 weeks contract

Hello,

May I ask which course you will be taking?

If you have anymore questions about the University or Student Life, then please feel free to ask. We would be happy to help.

Anyone thinking of deferring for a year if it’s completely online?

Original post by Anonymous
I've already had a year out so I'm going to uni either way. I know some unis are doing first semester online, another doing a mixture prioritising students who need specialist equipment for small group sessions. Then Cambridge who apparently are going online until summer 2021. Not sure about Oxford brookes though

Hi all,

You both bring up a great question on whether Oxford Brookes will be online.

At this present moment in time, no decision has been made as to whether we will be going online. We can understand that these are difficult times but we are here to help and answer any questions or queries, in relation to the university and life in Oxford. But please do keep a look at our Oxford Brookes Covid-19 Updates for regular and the most up-to-date information.

All the best,

Shereese

Strange how the website you're showing to prospective students doesn't include the same information that the university is emailing to existing students.

Hello,

Just following up from my previous response, we have been in touch with the programme administrator for your course. In regards to the course length for 1 academic year for 'Planning and Property Development':

"The two semesters of the academic year are normally around 12 weeks respectively. As a planning and property development student you would therefore finish semester one around mid December, and semester two around the start of June."

I hope this information will be able to help you in terms of making your choice for your accommodation. If you have any further questions about this information; or about the University or Student Life, please do feel free to ask. We would be happy to help!

All the best,

Shaf

Insuranced childrens nursing! Anyone else who is doing child nursing?

I’m planning to firm OB for child nursing, but not starting until September 2021... What is your firm choice out of interest?

Please can you clarify exactly what decisions have been made with regard to moving lectures and other course elements online? It looks very disingenuous to neglect to mention the decisions that have already been emailed to existing students whilst posting messages promising to keep prospective students updated as decisions progress.

Hello,

Thank you for your comment.
The latest update in regards to September 2020 from the university since Shaf last posted, which can be found on our Covid-19 page states as follows:

" The University will be opening for students in September. We will be putting in place social distancing measures to ensure all facilities can be open in some capacity. This includes teaching spaces, social spaces, the Library and accommodation. There will be no large scale face-to-face teaching e.g. lectures. Instead, such activity will be delivered through high-quality, online learning. Face-to-face teaching will still take place on campus but it will be restricted to small groups or individuals.

For those who cannot attend in Oxford, we will work with you to understand and respond to your needs and provide support for your online learning and to connect you to academic tutors and other students. "

This information can be found on https://www.brookes.ac.uk/alerts/coronavirus/

I hope that this helps and please do let us know any queries or questions that you may have.

Stay safe and all the best,

Shereese

Hey Emma, I'm not sure yet. It depends on the decisions OBU will finally take. I would definitely prefer to have the course on campus... if the first semester is online i would consider the option. What about you?
