A LEVEl chemistry

what would the equation of a reaction between ethanedioate ions and acidified potassium magnate (VII) be
Ethanedioic acid is oxidised to carbon dioxide: C2H2O4 \rightarrow 2CO2 + 2H+ + 2e-
The manganate(VII) ions are therefore reduced to Mn2+ ions: MnO4- + 8H+ + 5e- \rightarrow Mn2+ + 4H2O

Combination of these two equations gives: 5C2H2O4 + 2MnO4- + 6H+ \rightarrow 10CO2 + 2Mn2+ + 8H2O

The important thing to remember whenever you see potassium magnate (VII) is that it is a strong oxidizing agent. Along with this it would be good to remember, or be able to work out, it's half cell reation.
