Everything in bold is a must-read for all medical applicants in my opinion.

This is Going to Hurt by Adam Kay.
The Health Gap by Michael Marmot.
Do No Harm by Henry Marsh.

A lot of books in Oxford's Very Short Introductions are useful. e.g.:

-Medical Ethics by Dunn & Hope.
-Epidemiology by Rodolfo Saracci
-Dementia by Kathleen Taylor.

You can find plenty of other Medicine related OVSI books that I have not mentioned online.

Some I have not read but have heard good things about/are popular amongst medical applicants:

-Unnatural Causes by Dr Richard Sheperd.
-Seven Signs of Life by Aoife Abbey.
- How Not to Be a Doctor by John Launer.
