RMIT

Hi all, why am I unable to find out if a certain student went to RMIT in 1990?

I just can't get this information - why?

It just serves to protect dishonest people.

Because the general public have no right to know where someone else attended university, and because dishonesty is not (it itself) a crime.

If a person makes such a claim during an application for a job, or a postgraduate degree, then they would ask for proof. If the organisation were suspicious as to how valid that proof was (e.g. the certificate may be fake), then they could make a formal request to RMIT to validate the document.

However, if a person you see down the pub claims they attended a particular university, you have no general right to be able to validate that claim.
