I don't understand the answer for this question.
Question: Light of wavelength, travels from each illuminated slit producing maxima on the screen.
State the path difference between light from adjacent slits when this light produces a first-order maximum on the screen.

Answer: One wavelength.

because it's a first-order maxima. If it is a 2nd order maxima, the answer will be 2 wavelengths.

What it says in the textbook:
The wavelength of the progressive waves is one wavelength.
If the path difference to a point is zero or whole number of wavelength, then two waves will always arrive at that point in phase.
This produces constructive interference.
