Pyrazinamide effects on e-coli HELP

Hi, does anyone know why prazinamide doesnt effect e-coli? I understand pyrazinamide works by entering mycobacterium tuberculosis via diffusion to convert into pyrazinoic acid and then be excreted and reabsorbed. because the efflux pump is inefficient it causes cell damage. Does e-coli have like a more efficient pump where this doesnt happen? Help!

Yep, you're absolutely correct. M. tuberculosis is uniquely susceptible to pyrazinoic acid (POA) due to the inefficiency of its POA-associated efflux pump. Most other bacteria (including E. coli) do not have this issue since they can efficiently remove POA due to the increased activity of associated transporters. Thankyou soo much! It did seem like the most logical answer, but I really wasn't too sure so thankyou for the confirmation! Ive just read the article and that is extremely fascinating and I will include it in my report!
